What Happened?
Aluminum Precision Products was sued in an ERISA class action alleging the company's Employee Stock Ownership Plan fiduciaries approved transactions that overpaid for company stock, reducing retirement benefits for plan participants. ESOP litigation has grown as courts hold plan fiduciaries to strict standards when valuing employer stock in employee retirement plans.
The company agreed to pay $2 million to settle while denying wrongdoing. The settlement administrator has not yet activated the official portal at APPESOPSettlement.com.
