Alfa Mutual Alabama Total-Loss Auto Insurance Settlement
Alfa Mutual Insurance Company has agreed to settle a class action alleging it underpaid Alabama policyholders on first-party total-loss auto claims by failing to include required title fees, registration transfer fees, and taxes. Eligible claimants may receive up to $24 plus unpaid taxes per qualifying claim. The claim deadline is August 3, 2026.
Do I Qualify?
You may be eligible if:
- You are an Alabama Alfa Mutual auto policyholder (owned or leased vehicle)
- You submitted a covered first-party total-loss claim between March 13, 2018 and preliminary court approval
- Your payout did not include full Purchasing Fees (title fee $18 and registration transfer fee including ad valorem credit $6) or unpaid taxes
- You were not already paid in full for these fees and taxes
- You did not sign a release or pursue individual appraisal, arbitration, or lawsuit on the same claim
- You file by August 3, 2026 using your ALFA Claimant ID or supporting documentation

How Much Will I Actually Get?
Up to $24.00 (the assigned value of the title and registration transfer fees) plus any unpaid taxes, less any portion already paid. There is no single capped settlement fund — Alfa Mutual pays each approved claim directly rather than from a common pool.
Documented losses may receive higher compensation.
