Between October 16 and October 19, 2023, hackers exploited a critical vulnerability in software used by Citrix — a vendor Comcast relies on — to gain unauthorized access to Comcast's internal systems. The breach affected approximately 35.9 million Xfinity customers, exposing usernames, hashed passwords, names, contact information, last four digits of Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and secret questions and answers.
Comcast disclosed the breach publicly on December 18, 2023 — two months after discovering it. The company sent individual notifications to affected customers but did not offer free credit monitoring to all affected users. Comcast agreed to pay $117.5 million to settle the class action.
How Much Will I Actually Get?
Eligible claimants can receive $50 cash with no documentation required — you just need your Class Member ID from the Comcast breach notice. If you have documented out-of-pocket losses from the breach such as fraud charges or credit monitoring costs, you can claim up to $10,000. The $50 no-proof option is available to all notified customers regardless of actual harm. Deadline is August 14, 2026.
