What Happened?

A phishing email attack on Datavant/Ciox Health's systems between May 8 and May 9, 2024 allegedly gave unauthorized access to at least one company email account. The information potentially exposed included names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, driver's license numbers, and health-related data including diagnoses, conditions, prescriptions, patient IDs, and health insurance details. The lawsuit Jackson v. Ciox Health LLC d/b/a Datavant Group, Case No. CV2025-062690, was filed in Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona and alleges negligence and consumer fraud violations. While Datavant reported the broader incident to HHS as affecting approximately 320,702 people, the settlement class is limited to approximately 58,309 individuals who received breach notification letters.
