Disney, YouTube TV & DirecTV Blackout Class Action Settlement
Disney, YouTube TV, and DirecTV have agreed to settle a class action over the September 2024 channel blackout that left millions of subscribers without access to ABC, ESPN, and other Disney-owned channels during a carriage dispute. Once the claim portal opens, affected subscribers may be entitled to cash compensation for the service disruption.
Who Will Qualify?
Based on court filings, eligibility is expected to include:
- U.S. subscribers to YouTube TV or DirecTV who lost access to Disney-owned channels during the September 2024 blackout
- You paid for service during the blackout period and did not receive a credit or refund
- Rhode Island residents should review the official notice for repealer-specific provisions
- Expected claim portal: OnlineTVSettlement.com (not yet live as of June 22, 2026)

What Happened?
In September 2024, a carriage dispute between The Walt Disney Company and Google (YouTube TV) as well as DirecTV resulted in a multi-day blackout of Disney-owned channels including ABC, ESPN, FX, and National Geographic. Millions of pay-TV subscribers were unable to watch live sports, news, and entertainment they had paid for — including NFL games and other major programming.
Subscribers filed class action lawsuits alleging they paid for channels they could not access and were not adequately compensated. The parties reached a settlement creating a fund to compensate affected subscribers. The official claims website OnlineTVSettlement.com is expected to launch around July 7, 2026, with a claim filing deadline of September 8, 2026.
