In August 2025, Motility Software Solutions experienced a cyberattack in which unauthorized individuals may have accessed personal information stored in its systems. Motility's software is used by automotive dealerships to manage customers, track service records, and process transactions — meaning car buyers and service customers across the country may have had their data exposed. Approximately 760,000 individuals were notified.
The lawsuit — In re Motility Data Breach Litigation, Case No. 3:25-CV-00330, Southern District of Ohio — alleges Motility failed to maintain adequate cybersecurity protections. Motility denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle.
