Kickback Jack's Sex Discrimination Settlement

Settlement Amount
$1,111,300
Claim Deadline
August 3, 2026
Total Fund
$1.1 Million

If you are a man who applied for a server, bartender, or host job at a Kickback Jack's restaurant in North Carolina, Virginia, or Tennessee and weren't hired, a $1.1 million federal settlement may entitle you to a cash payment. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued Battleground Restaurants Inc. and Battleground Restaurant Group Inc. — the companies that operate the Kickback Jack's sports-bar chain — on behalf of male applicants who were allegedly turned away from front-of-house positions because of their sex. You don't need to have been formally rejected in writing and no Notice ID or PIN is required. The deadline to file is August 3, 2026.

Do I Qualify?

You may be eligible if you are a man who applied for a non-managerial front-of-house position — server, bartender, or host — at a Kickback Jack's restaurant in North Carolina, Virginia, or Tennessee between January 1, 2019 and February 3, 2026, and were not hired. Managerial roles and kitchen or back-of-house positions are not covered. No formal rejection letter is required and no Notice ID or PIN is needed.

File your claim through the official settlement website at KBJSettlement.com before August 3, 2026.

What Happened?

The EEOC filed its complaint on September 25, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, Case No. 1:24-cv-00792-JAG-LPA. The complaint alleged that Kickback Jack's maintained a systematic policy of refusing to hire men for non-managerial front-of-house positions — servers, bartenders, and hosts — at its restaurants across North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee since at least January 1, 2019, in direct violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The parties agreed to a consent decree requiring payment of $1,111,300 and adoption of enhanced anti-discrimination hiring policies. Kickback Jack's denies any wrongdoing.
