What Happened?

In July 2025, a targeted cyberattack on two of Modernizing Medicine’s computer servers — used to facilitate conversion of limited data from retiring EHR platforms — accessed files that may have contained names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, emails, Social Security numbers, health insurance information, and medical information such as record numbers, dates of service, billing codes, prescriptions, and diagnoses.

The case is Cavallaro-Kearins v. Modernizing Medicine, Inc., Case No. 9:25-cv-81443-EA, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. ModMed denies wrongdoing.

The claim deadline is November 2, 2026. Opt-out and objection deadlines are October 19, 2026. A Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for November 17, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time in West Palm Beach.
