Nectar Sleep and DreamCloud, popular direct-to-consumer mattress brands owned by the same parent company, were sued for allegedly advertising mattresses at inflated "original" prices and then showing consumers false discounts. The practice — known as reference price fraud or fake sale pricing — misleads consumers into believing they are getting a better deal than they actually are.
The companies agreed to settle the class action in Molloy v. Nectar Sleep while denying wrongdoing. Eligible buyers receive a $30 voucher redeemable on Nectar or DreamCloud products.
